Early life: 

Pauline Joyce Hutchison gave birth to Meyer in south St.Louis in 1943. Soon after she was born, her father enlisted in the military to serve in World War II. She has claimed in interviews that he started assaulting her sexually after his return, and she talks about this incident in her
sessions. She still has a working-class accent from St. Louis. She married a
part-time auto salesperson shortly after completing her senior year of high
school. She graduated from O'Fallon Technical High School in St. Louis. Five
years were spent in the marriage. She claims that her spouse routinely cheated
on her and convinced her to take her employer's payroll checks. They traveled
to California for their holiday using the funds. 

Career as a Religious Preacher: 

Joyce Meyer started teaching Bible in a cafeteria class earlyin the morning after joining Our Savior's Lutheran Church in St. Louis. She actively participated in Fenton's fascinating Life Christian Centre. Within a few years, she was given the position of Associate Pastor at the Church. Her standing as a Bible instructor grew over time. She began broadcasting a
fifteen-minute radio show from the nearby St. Louis station. She started her
career and left her position as associate pastor in 1985. Its original name was
"Life in the Word." Six other radio stations from Chicago to Kansas
City began playing her radio show at the same time.
